 In a heart-wrenching display of bravery, a Dalmatian named Tyson sacrificed his life to protect his family from a venomous cobra.

When Ameen Sharif of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was woken by frantic barking, he rushed outside to find Tyson, his courageous one-and-a-half-year-old Dalmatian, locked in a deadly struggle with an Indian cobra.

Ameen and his family could only watch in horror as Tyson fought valiantly against the dangerous snake, unable to intervene in time.

Tragically, as the distressing situation unfolded, the family watched in disbelief as Tyson began to show signs of illness and suffering.

Ameen, realizing the gravity of the situation, checked Tyson for snake bites and found blood on the left side of the dog’s face.

He quickly contacted a snake hotline and sent a video of the snake to expert Subhendu Mallik, who confirmed it was an Indian cobra and urged the family to rush Tyson to a veterinarian.

Unfortunately, Tyson succumbed to the venom within 30 minutes, as it was 2 a.m. and no veterinarians were available at that hour.

Ameen shared with Ommcom News, "We saw Tyson fighting with a cobra just a foot from our porch. The snake bit our beloved pet, and he subsequently died."

He continued, "We attempted to contact veterinarians for an anti-venom dosage for Tyson, but no one answered at that hour. While we managed to save ourselves, we couldn't save him."

Ameen expressed, "Our family will always remember the dog's loyalty and heroic sacrifice. It's unfortunate that, while there are many hospitals open 24/7 for humans, there are none offering emergency care for animals."

Mr. Mallik added, "The courageous dog saved the family from a dangerous situation." However, the incident underscores the lack of veterinary care in Odisha, as Tyson died without receiving the necessary treatment.
